YOUTH ENGAGEMENT - Increase youth involvement in Coalition

Do you have a special interest in … working with young people, planning events, social media, developing youth programs?

Current Projects:

  • Youth Summit – assist in the planning and implementation of a community-wide Youth Summit for Ashland youth to share their ideas related to keeping Ashland youth healthy (e.g., helping peers make healthy choices and good decisions).
  • STAND (Students Taking a Noble Direction) social norms campaign  - provide support by distributing information, hanging posters, communicating with parents, collating survey information.

POLICY - Assess current town & school policy with respect to youth substance use.  

 Do you have special interest in … working with others, brainstorming, the development of behind the scenes work?

 Current Projects:

  • Education & Intervention (Diversion) Program – help establish a youth diversion program to offer juvenile criminal offenders (of crimes judged to be eligible for the program) the opportunity to complete an alternative program to avoid a criminal record.
  • Health & Wellness Committee – assist with potential efforts outlined by the new Health & Wellness Committee 

EVALUATION – Review survey data and share with coalition, school and the community

Do you have an interest in … interpreting data, creating presentations, public speaking?

Current Projects:  

  • Community Assessment – assist with efforts to update information from the community assessment
  • Evaluation Dissemination – help with efforts to disseminate evaluation information/data collected from Coalition programs and surveys, brainstorm ideas for raising community awareness about evaluation results.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH - Help spread the word about the work of the DAET Coalition.

Do you have a special interest in … meeting new people, networking, connecting people in the community, events, social media, writing, creating promotional materials, developing or giving presentations?

Current Projects:

  • K-5 parents - increasing outreach,  development of materials and resources, engaging community partners to increase access to K-5 materials and resources
  • Community Conversations - promoting Conversations, hosting a Conversation, enlisting groups/associations to host a Conversation
